WAXAHACHIE – County Judge Todd Little has sent an open invitation to Tesla Motors’ CEO Elon Musk inviting him to join the Ellis County family. Musk has been vocal about his dislike for the stay at home orders imposed in California, where his Tesla Motors plant is currently located.

Musk has threatened to relocate to Texas or Nevada after being accused by California Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez of ignoring worker safety and intimidating public officials.

The Tesla Motors factory had been deemed a non-essential business in Fremont, Calif. and employees about 10,000 workers.

Ellis County Judge Little said he believed his county is the perfect place for a relocation because of the pro-business mindset in Texas.

“I would like to make it clear that Ellis County is immediately available to partner with Tesla Motors,” Little said.

The judge said he believed the area is a perfect spot for Tesla because of its location to Dallas, Waco, Austin, Houston, and other cities throughout Texas.

The county is also home to Mid-Way regional airport, which is no stranger to necessary business and aeronautical needs in the area.

Little also said potential Tesla employees are currently attending premier Ellis County schools.

“These future employees are young, motivated and full of the Texas spirit,” Little added.

Among Tesla Motors’ neighbors should Musk decide to move to the area are Bombardier, Compass Data, FreshPet, Gerdau Steel, Google, and Triumph Aerostructure.

Little said regarding revenue Tesla Motors would bring to Ellis County, “The General Motors facility in Arlington is a good comparison, with a $900 -million property evaluation and over 5,000 jobs.

A similar Tesla footprint would bring approximately $100-million in tax revenue over 10 years to the city, county, and school district.”

Since the COVID-19 lockdown began in California, Musk has been angry about the stay home order.

He said the restrictions are “fascist” and he believes America’s freedoms are being taken away with these orders.
