WILMER – It is not the film or television actors, the athletes or even the wealthy millionaires on the frontlines during this COVID-19 pandemic poised to change the world.
Instead, the heroes are you and me.
The heroes are our neighbors, our families our friends.
The people who went to work while others were told to shelter in place and stay safe.
Those workers who made sure the shelves were stocked at stores, who brought out food that was ordered from restaurants that were lucky enough to be able to stay open.
Or those truck drivers whose tires you see worn and laying on the highway because of the miles the trucks are traveling to get food to our tables in America.
At Wilmer’s virtual city council meeting last week, council recognized “Heroes to Us.”
The City of Wilmer wanted to recognize those people who have been deemed essential during this coronavirus pandemic.
“We know that there are so many citizens in Wilmer and Dallas County that are continuing to work,” said Wilmer Mayor Emmanuel Wealthy.
“We are beyond grateful for all law enforcement, fire and rescue, grocery workers, postal employees, delivery and truck drivers, emergency medical, healthcare, critical manufacturing and others that continue to be on the frontline of this pandemic we are facing in our country and community.”
The city especially wanted to make note that everyone has a place in this crisis.
