ELLIS COUNTY – Democrat and Republican Joint Primary Elections are Tuesday, March 3. Early voting began this week and goes through February 28.

The main early voting locations are not only the Ellis County Elections Office in Waxahachie, but also the Midlothian Conference Center, Palmer School District Annex Building, Ellis County Sub-Courthouse and Grace Covenant Church in Red Oak, which replaces Red Oak Municipal during early voting.

The state representative seat in District 10 is up for election, with Robert “Zack” Radar, Jake Ellzey and Ryan Pitts running to replace outgoing John Wray of Waxahachie.

Those in the March 3 Primary Election all but guaranteed to win the general election in November include several district judges, the county tax assessor, the county commissioner in Precinct 1, various constable seats and the county chair – all running unopposed.

Running in the primary election and vying for the seat of Ellis County Sheriff is incumbent Chuck Edge and challengers Brad Norman and Charlie Daniels.

Ann Montgomery, currently working in the DA’s office, is hoping to move up and take the seat Patrick Wilson is vacating for District/County Attorney.

She is running against Julissa Martinez, a practicing attorney from Waxahachie.

In the County Commissioner Precinct 3 seat, incumbent Paul Perry is hoping to keep his seat against challenger Richard Rozier.

A new seat for County Court at Law No. 3 Judge has been created this year, with Joseph R. “Joe” Gallo running against Vance Hinds.
