We had an incredible adventure with “Dora the Explorer” at last week’s Morning Movie Matinee. The kids all enjoyed popcorn while learning about the challenges of high school with her new friends.

The library will be holding a movie time again during the next school break. Check-out our Facebook page for all activities throughout the year.

The Ferris Public Library’s Annual “Food for Fines” is back! Up until Dec. 20, 2019, you may clear your account with non-perishable food donations.

Here’s how it works; every dollar you have for past due fines you can gift one can or package of food. This is for past due fines only; items must be returned to the library. Food will be given to a local food bank, which will be a win-win for everyone. Your account gets cleared, the library’s records will get cleaned up, and people in our community will benefit.

If you’re not sure if you have any past due fines, please feel free to call us at (972) 544-3696. Of course, we accept donations from those that are feeling generous during this giving time of year!

Stacey Lankford has setup Christmas book displays for both children and adults. We’ve added several new DVDs this year as well. Come by for a visit, and I’m sure you’ll be pleased with the vast selection that you will have to choose from.

New Books: “Stealth: A Stone Barrington Novel” (LP) by Stuart Woods, “An Amish Second Christmas” by Shelley Shepard Gray, “The Monster of Elendhaven” by Jennifer Giesbrecht, “Strands of Truth” by Colleen Coble, “The World That We Know” by Alice Hoffman, “The Dutch House” by Ann Patchett, “What Set Me Free” (Bio) by Brian Banks, “Texas Flood: The Inside Story of Stevie Ray Vaughan” (Bio) by Alan Paul, “Savage Appetites: Four True Stories of Women, Crime, and Obsession” (Dewey 364) by Rachel Monroe, and “An Indigenous Peoples’ History of the United States” (Dewey 970) by Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz.
