MIDLOTHIAN – The third annual Ellis County Preparedness Fair will be on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Midlothian ISD Multi-Purpose Stadium from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Ellis County Office of Emergency Management in association with the city of Midlothian works to bring emergency preparedness to the residents of the County.
The third annual Preparedness Fair will meet in Midlothian once again after unfavorable weather lead to the cancellation of the fair in 2018.
The preparedness fair is held in September to recognize National Preparedness Month, and is presented through partnerships with Ellis County law enforcement including local police, fire, and swat.
“It serves as a reminder that we all must take action to prepare, now and throughout the year for the types of emergencies that could affect us where we live, work, and visit,” said Ellis County Emergency Management Coordinator Samantha Pickett.
“We tend to overlook the small details when we are in the thick of it, and we just want to have fun while we provide a way for every member of the family to learn how to better protect themselves, their pets, and their livestock.”
The family/pet friendly event will feature familiar names including HEB, The Salvation Army, and the United Way of West Ellis County. Families will have the opportunity to explore first responder vehicles, meet local law enforcement, and be given free resources to equip them in case of potential emergency situations.
Local vendors will also be providing free food and giveaways.
Ellis County invites the whole community to this free event, and challenges residents to “be prepared, not scared.”
