WAXAHACHIE – State Representative John Wray announced he will retire from the Texas House at the end of his current term as the Representative for House District 10.

District 10 includes all of Ellis County and part of Henderson County.

In Austin, Wray fought aggressively for conservative priorities and values.

This session, he helped cut property taxes by $5 billion, while giving public school teachers and retirees much-needed raises and increasing school funding.

Lasting local impacts of Wray’s legislative career include the naming of U.S. Highway 287 in Midlothian as the Chris Kyle Memorial Highway, and the creation of County Court at Law No. 3 of Ellis County.

“This session was a highlight of my time in public service,” said Wray.

“We put the needs of our children and families first by passing landmark school finance reform and securing property tax relief for the next two years.”

“I’m proud of what we have accomplished in the Legislature.

“These elected jobs are not meant to be lifetime positions,” he said.

“It is time for me to return full time to Ellis County and join my fellow citizens to elect the next conservative state representative.”

Wray is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the University of Texas School of Law.

He is an attorney serving small businesses and families in Ellis County. Wray also co-owns Town Square Title.

He and his wife, Michele, live in Midlothian with their two children, Morgan and Patrick.

This fall, Morgan will be a freshman at the University of Texas at Austin, and Patrick will be a sophomore at Waxahachie High School.
