The creative power of prayer (part 9)

“And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.” – Matthew 6:13

God does not tempt us, nor does He lead us into temptation because we are tempted when we are led astray by our own desires and lusts. Everyone of us has to endure temptation because it is a fact of our spiritual life and warfare with the devil who has been defeated by the Lord Jesus Christ.

From the garden of Eden's splendor to the end of all things, the devil will tempt us and try and draw us away from serving the Lord and expanding the kingdom. God has given us weapons of spiritual warfare and armor to protect us from this demonic onslaught as well as all power and authority over our spiritual enemies.

Deliverance by man is in vain as the scripture states, for it is through God's power that we will have victory over the devil and be delivered. Jesus defeated the devil and his angels at the cross and through His shed blood we are healed and delivered from evil.

“Blessed is the man (and woman) who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love him. Let no one say when he is tempted, "I am tempted by God"; for God cannot be tempted by evil nor does He Himself tempt anyone. But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”James 1:12-15
