 ALMAThe City of Alma police made an arrest last week when during a traffic stop the individual evaded the officer on foot, tampered with evidence by attempting to destroy a glass pipe and was in possession of a controlled substance.

 ELLIS COUNTY – Ellis County Commissioners Court voted to amend the date for a Public Hearing set for Aug. 19 regarding the installation of stop signs at the intersection of Hoyt Circle and Hoyt Road located in County Commissioner Louis Ponder’s Precinct 3 district.

Struggle with motorist injures State Trooper

 ELLIS COUNTY – A Texas State Trooper was injured in a struggle with a motorist last Friday in Ellis County.The incident took place on Aug. 15 at approximately 3 p.m. while the DPS officer was on patrol.

WAXAHACHIE – A small airplane made an emergency landing late last week in a grassy area just off I-35 in Waxahachie near Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.The pilot, who was the only occupant in the aircraft, was not injured.

 ALMAThe City of Alma held its ordinance workshop, city council meeting and public hearing Tuesday to consider adopting a proposed tax rate for tax year 2025. The proposed tax rate is $0.250000 per $100 of value.

STAR Transit services extended for Wilmer residents through Fall 2026

 WILMER – The City of Wilmer approved an Interlocal Agreement with STAR Transit for public transportation services provided to its citizens.The agreement is an extension to the services currently offered to residents and will allow for uninterrupted service through Sept. 30, 2026.

Unsanctioned trail ride leaves 3 victims shot

 RED OAK – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Department is still looking for suspect(s) in a trail ride gone wrong last week in Red Oak.The trail ride was unsanctioned and involved a shooting, resulting in three individuals being transported to area hospitals for treatment.
