WILMER – There were at least 1000 people at the City of Wilmer’s 3rd Annual Sparks 4th of July celebration and fireworks event this past weekend.

Mayor Sheila Petta said in a statement several weeks before the event, “We are excited to have our residents and visitors join us for our 3rd Annual Sparks 4th of July celebration. Last year’s event was a tremendous success, and this year we are even more poised with excitement.”

It was 16-minute fireworks show with music with three hours of fun before the show began including food trucks, a foam cannon, face painter, a giant human hamster ball racetrack, bubble machine, and photo backdrops.

Mayors from the Best Southwest Cities of Duncanville, Barry Gordan; Glenn Heights’ Sonia Brown; Lancaster’s Clyde Hairston and a plethora of city council members also attended the evening’s festivities.

“Thank you to all that have worked with us to make this Independence celebration possible,” Petta said.
