WILMER – The City of Wilmer did the 4th of July right this year.

With only a handful of cities offering fireworks and celebration this year, Wilmer’s second-annual Sparks Fireworks Show was a highlight in the area on Friday, July 1.

“The City of Wilmer’s 2nd Annual Sparks Fireworks Show was a great success,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta.

“This year we enjoyed food trucks, a gaming truck, a face painter, a balloon artist, and a DJ.”

Another element that added to the festivities was the fireworks show being aligned with music available to tune into at KBEC 1390AM/99.1FM.

With all the elements for a successful event in place, residents and visitors alike enjoyed the fun-filled evening celebrating Independence Day.

In fact, the fireworks extravaganza was so impressive that some said it was truly “unforgettable.”

Every year, Wilmer works to continue to establish an event like Sparks for all to enjoy, and this year was no different.

Petta offered too, a special thanks to Praise Fellowship Baptist Church and Padian Properties, “for their partnership in allowing the city to put on this spectacular 4th of July celebration for all to enjoy.”
