WILMER – The City of Wilmer recently entered into an agreement with Medical Technology Manufacturer Stryker to purchase emergency medical equipment for the city’s Fire Department. 

The city also invested in Automated External Defibrillator’s for use by the police department both inside the department’s building and in Wilmer’s police vehicles.

“With the purchase of the new equipment city personnel were also able to go through the necessary cardio pulmonary resuscitation training to operate this new equipment,” said Wilmer Interim Fire Chief Eddy Harris.

The city had 43 staff employees attend the CPR training including city administration, public works, senior services, police department staff, police detectives, police dispatchers and the patrol and traffic divisions. 

Wilmer has worked with Stryker more than 15 years in the past, purchasing items such as the Fire Department’s LifePak heart monitors and Lucas CPR devices. 

These life-saving devices are used on patients regularly and are staples in the city’s ambulances and engine.

Wilmer’s most recent agreement is to confirm resident’s receive the best care and attention during life-saving situations. 

The agreement is a seven-year “Flex Lease” locking in fixed yearly pricing for continued equipment replacement and service/maintenance for all the city’s Stryker products.
