WILMER – The City of Wilmer accepted applications at the end of last year for the annual Mayor’s Toy Drive for Christmas.

Parents and legal guardians for children living in Wilmer submitted an application with their child’s top three wishes that were under $25.

“The city’s Wilmer Initiative to Spread Hope (W.I.S.H.) Christmas Program” was an incredible success, and we were able to bring cheer and hope to approximately 250 children within the City of Wilmer,” said Wilmer Mayor Sheila Petta.

To provide a safe atmosphere and to avoid large gatherings during the COVID-19 pandemic, the city distributed the gifts into two sessions – morning and afternoon on Dec. 22, 2021 at the Community Center.

Along with the gifts, Mayor Petta provided each child two goodie bags filled with fruit and Christmas candy.

“Serving our community is our top priority, and I would like to express my gratitude to all that assisted this holiday season,” Petta concluded
