WILMER – The city of Wilmer will be the first city along I-45 from an expanse beginning in downtown Dallas all the way south to Corsicana to get EV chargers at one of the many gas stations along that route.

Zak Kassem, president of Kassem Management, and the owner of several gas stations in Wilmer said he is currently installing four EV charging stations at the Exxon/Sonic off the Belt Line Road exit heading south.

These charging stations will be installed by mid-January.

Kassem said the EV chargers, made by Hyperian will charge an electric vehicle in 15 minutes, including Tesla.

“You will have to use an adapter to charge the Tesla,” Kassem said.

No problem though, Kassem will be selling the adapters inside the Exxon station since there will likely be a need – the distance from downtown Dallas to Corsicana is roughly 55 miles.

As for cost, it is .37 cents per kilowatt and the average vehicle needs from 60 to 70 kilowatts for a full charge.

The exception will be Tesla, needing 45 minutes for a full charge according to Kassem.

EV charge can be paid with an app that can be downloaded and ready to use in minutes.
