WILMER – A large grass fire last week in the 1900 block of Malloy Bridge Road had Ferris and Wilmer residents concerned due to the hot dry weather in North Texas.

The grass fire, according to Wilmer Fire Chief David Gifford, resulted in approximately 65 acres burned before fire department agencies were able to get the fire under control.

There were no reported injuries and Gifford said they did not know the cause of the fire.

Numerous agencies took part in assisting to extinguish the fire safely including Dallas County, Dallas Fire, Ferris, Wilmer, Hutchins, Bristol, Combine, Red Oak, Ennis, Palmer, Seagoville, Crandall, Seagoville PD and the Dallas Co. Sheriff’s Department.
