WAXAHACHIE – The City of Waxahachie was designated a Purple Heart Community last week during a celebration at the Waxahachie Civic Center.
The community gathering began with a Military Pigeon Release honoring those who have served and sacrificed, with comments by Master Sergeant Robert Bell, USMC, retired.
The official proclamation was read, followed by the posting of the colors by the Ellis County Marine Corps League Attachment 1452 Color Guard, and a live performance of the National Anthem by Caroline Condor.
The City of Waxahachie alongside the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 1513, through this designation specifically recognized and honored the sacrifices that have been made by America’s combat-wounded veterans during the ceremony.
The Purple Heart Community Program was established by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, and gives cities across the United States the chance to show support for the sacrifices made by Purple Heart recipients.
The City of Waxahachie’s Purple Heart City designation publicly shows the commitment the city has for its combat-wounded veterans.
