WAXAHACHIE – The Waxahachie Police Department served a warrant last Wednesday morning at approximately 10:45 a.m. in the 100 block of Northgate Drive at the University Gardens Apartments.

The warrant was issued for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon incident, which was intended for 63-year-old Kenneth Broderick of Waxahachie.

Broderick barricaded himself inside the apartment when police served the warrant, refusing to come out of his apartment. Waxahachie’s SWAT team immediately responded to the barricaded suspect.

The warrant stemmed from a shooting in April 2022. At that time Broderick shot another man in the arm at the Waxahachie Dallas Inn and Suites.

After a little under two hours, Broderick was taken into custody with no injuries.

He was charged with parole violation with a $0 bond amount, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon with a $200,000 bond, unlawful possession of a firearm by felon with a $5000 bond, and failure to drive in a single lane issued by the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office.
