WAXAHACHIE – Waxahachie City Council voted after an executive session on July 7 to terminate the employment of City Manager Michael Scott effective immediately.
The item passed unanimously.
Along with the termination, Scott will be given his severance with council “authorizing the severance provisions in the City Manager’s Employment Agreement.”
Scott began his career with the City in 2002. He served as Downtown Director, Director of Planning, Assistant City Manager, and had been Waxahachie’s City Manager since 2017.
“His commitment and contributions to our community over more than two decades have left a lasting impact, and we extend our sincere gratitude for his years of service,” a City of Waxahachie Facebook post stated.
As of July 11, the city council voted unanimously to appoint Fire Chief Ricky Boyd as interim city manager.
It was indicated Boyd would have the ability to ensure a seamless transition after Scott’s departure.
Boyd has been with the City of Waxahachie for 13 years and has served for more than 40 years in the fire service.
