Water treatment plant proposed at Risinger Road, Interstate 45

FERRIS – If you are interested in having your voice heard concerning a proposed water treatment plant slated to be located at the intersection of Risinger Road and Interstate Highway 45 near Ferris, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is asking for community voices at a public meeting on Feb. 15.

The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in Ennis at the Jack Lummus Memorial VFW Post 7106, 3100 N. Interstate 45.

A permit to build the water treatment plant at this proposed site has already by requested by Magnolia, Texas-based Clear Utilities LLC. The project overall falls into the longer list of MUDs in Ellis County.

Reportedly this facility would operate to service what is now in the early stages of Oakwood Manufactured Home Community to be located on a 300-acre space.

There have already been public comments regarding this water treatment plant project by more than 60 community members weighing in on the topic.

Most do not want to see the facility located at the proposed location due to flooding, environmental problems including hazards for fish and wildlife in the area, and problems for local farmers and more.

Residents had suggested a public meeting if not a public hearing to determine the outcome of the permit application and proposal.
