WAXAHACHIE – After last year was canceled due to the pandemic, the Texas Country Reporter Festival was back and stronger than ever this year.

A beautiful day this past Saturday saw attendance numbers expected to have been as high as 60,000 for the 25th year of the annual event.

The festival’s main area was located next to the Ellis County Historic Courthouse in the Downtown Waxahachie Square. That area was spread out for blocks however, with local talent, handcrafted goods and food and drink including pop-up stands, food trucks and the many restaurants in the area open for business.

Texas County Reporter host Bob Phillips has been hosting the event for years taking a look at the back roads of Texas and the main roads as well to bring viewers a look at all the destinations Texas has to offer. And the people who make up Texas along the way.

The City of Waxahachie Police Department had their booth set up with an emphasis on the importance of bringing awareness to Testicular Cancer.

According to Waxahachie Detective James Taylor it was a long, rewarding day of raising money for this most important cause.

One local Waxahachie resident looked around at the crowd around midday and noted “I am so excited, I have never seen so many people in attendance for this event.”
