GARRETT – An unsuccessful search underway late last week in Garrett was called off when police cleared all units after officers could not locate a subject who fled during an attempted arrest.
The incident happened last Thursday and according to the Garrett PD Facebook page, “Despite extensive search efforts, officers were unable to locate the subject.
“K9 units lost track of the individual, and drone operations were conducted throughout the area.”
At that time, police believed the subject could still be in the area.
The individual, wanted in another county was described by police as a heavyset black male with no shirt and wearing tan pants.
“If you see anyone matching this description or recognize the individual in the photo,” police advised
“Do not attempt to apprehend, approach, interfere, or make contact with the subject.”
The K9 tracking unit and drone operations in the area included the cooperative efforts of the Garrett Police Department, Ennis Police Department, and the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office who had been primarily searching the areas of North Kaufman Street, Northeast Main Street, Henson Street and East Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Police said they did not believe the subject was armed but did recommend residents lock their doors and be observant.
