Red Oak residents must avoid watering during the day with the exception of a handheld hose or faucet-filled bucket of water.
In Waxahachie, that city is currently in Stage 1 of its Drought Contingency Plan. The city has five drought response stages.
STAGE 1: Water Conditions at 531 ft.
STAGE 2: Mild Water Shortage Conditions, 527 ft. Citizens are asked to reduce non-essential water use.
STAGE 3: Moderate Water Shortage Condition, 524 ft. Mandatory daily limits are imposed.
STAGE 4: Severe Water Shortage Conditions, 520 ft. Water restriction for specified days.
STAGE 5: Critical Water Shortage Conditions, 517.5 ft.
Strengthen mandatory water restrictions, including the prohibition of outdoor watering.
According to the Waxahachie city website “The objectives of the Drought Contingency Plan are to conserve the available water supply during times of drought and emergency, ensuring enough water for essential uses such as domestic consumption, sanitation, and fire protection.”
