WILMER – The sparks will be flying in the City of Wilmer on Friday, July 1 for the city’s second annual Fourth of July celebration.

The event will take place at 4801 N I-45 and the main fireworks show will begin at 9:15 p.m.

Join the city in celebrating the nation’s 246th birthday with a show of fireworks and celebration.

Residents can watch the festivities from anywhere in the city or tune in to KBEC 1390AM/99.1 FM starting at 9 p.m. for news and announcements and to hear the fireworks music simulcast.
Last year at the first annual event Wilmer City Mayor Sheila Petta said, “The City of Wilmer is thrilled to be able to celebrate our first Fourth of July Fireworks Show called “Sparks in the Night.”

“I am beyond appreciative for Praise Fellowship Baptist Church and Padian Properties for their partnership in allowing the City to put on a spectacular 4th of July celebration for all to enjoy.

“We hope you will join us as we celebrate America”s independence and continue to salute America, land of the free and home of the brave.”

With this year’s event even more residents are expected to enjoy the celebration post-pandemic.

Entertainment will be from 7 to 9 p.m. prior to the fireworks show including a food truck, music, face painting and a balloon artist for all to enjoy during the celebration.”
