Semitruck blaze ignites vegetation along US-287 Sunday afternoon

OVILLA – An 18-wheeler vehicle fire broke out this past Sunday afternoon at around 3:30 p.m.

The fire quickly spread into an adjacent grass fire along the highway on northbound US Highway 287.

Emergency responders worked the major scene on Northbound US Highway 287 between Interstate 35E and Ovilla Road and drivers experienced temporary traffic delays as crews contained the flames.

First responders from the Waxahachie Fire Department and neighboring local agencies successfully brought the vegetation fire under control and marked it as contained by 3:55 p.m.
