RED OAK – Former Midlothian CID Sergeant Cody McKinney has been hired by the Red Oak Police Department as the new Criminal Investigations Sergeant.
McKinney recently retired from the Midlothian Police Department where he also served as the Criminal Investigations Sergeant. He holds a Master Peace Officer License and several specialty certifications within the law enforcement field.
Well-known throughout Dallas and Ellis County for his upstanding professionalism within the community, Red Oak Police Chief Garland Wolf said, “We are very fortunate to have Cody with Red Oak PD. With his pending retirement I saw an opportunity to acquire a quiet, humble and dedicated professional respected by many in the law enforcement profession for his humility, integrity and abilities.”
Wolf and McKinney formerly worked together in Midlothian. Chief Wolf moved to Red Oak to helm the PD there a number of years ago.
McKinney, who worked in Midlothian 17 years and is from that city, said he is excited about his move and the opportunities this new position offers.
He is also excited about teaming up with his new chief again.
“I have a deep respect for Chief Wolf because he knows what he is talking about,” McKinney said. “When he said he was hiring, I said I am definitely coming over here.”
