OVILLA – There is all kinds of progress being made in the City of Ovilla.

First, there was the Water Street Bridge Improvement Project that was scheduled to get underway.  The city had originally began working with engineers back in October, 2018 to begin that much-needed improvement project.

Ovilla City Manager Pam Woodall said there is even more going on in the city now.

“Crews are working on digging up and smoothing out the police parking lot today in preparation for refurbishing,” Woodall said.

“This same procedure will happen with city hall and a new parking lot for public works at their new building. It is all coming along and will look great.”

Ovilla Public Works is also working on the landscaping around that building too.

And Woodall explained right now, the city is having work done alongside Ellis County on Buckboard and Silver Spur.

Ditch and culvert cleanout work on these streets have already been done, and road refurbishment will take place in the coming days.

The Main Street parking lot expansion is now being staked for the new parking lot. Woodall said staff met for a pre-construction meeting with the contractor last week, and work is ready to begin.

“This will be quite an asset for Ovilla,” Woodall concluded.
