OVILLA – Fourteen-year-old Tyler Homuth addressed the Ovilla City Council recently in order to complete his requirements for his Eagle Scout project.

Homuth is in Troop 520 in Cedar Hill.

“I did this project because I have a uncle that I’m close to that is a firefighter,” Homuth said. “One of the firefighters at the Ovilla fire station got his Eagle Scout rank out of my Troop, and I wanted to find a way to show my appreciation for everything that all first responders do for us.”

Homuth first approached the Ovilla City Council last fall about his proposed Eagle Scout project to honor first responders.

“His project includes three flags, and is located in the park next to city hall near a future trail,” Ovilla Mayor Richard Dormier added.

“We appreciate the contribution Tyler has made to our city and his thoughtfulness in honoring our first responders,” Dormier concluded.

As for Homuth, he concluded, “I’m very happy that I got to do this project in spite of COVID-19.”
