WAXAHACHIE – There have been no new developments regarding the newborn boy found late last week in some bushes in Waxahachie.
The infant was discovered at Bent Tree Town Homes in the 1700 block of South Interstate 35E in the morning hours.
Waxahachie Police said someone found the child in the bushes and called 911 to report the discovery.
When officers arrived, they found the male infant wrapped in a T-shirt in the bushes.
The infant was treated by medical staff and transported to Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Waxahachie where he remains in good condition.
The child’s mother is a juvenile and has been located, police confirmed.
It’s not yet clear if the child’s mother will face charges, but investigators are said to be working with the Ellis County District Attorney to consider whether charges should be filed.
The baby was just hours old when discovered, and is now in the custody of Child Protective Services.
