At approximately 6:38 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a one vehicle crash on FM 813 approximately 500 feet east of Falcon Ridge Road in Ellis County.
Preliminary investigation indicates a white 2002 Ford Explorer was traveling east on FM 813 when for an as of yet undetermined reason the driver failed to negotiate a curve to the left. This caused the Explorer to drive off the north side of the roadway and into the ditch where the Explorer struck a tree with the driver’s side door.
The driver of the Explorer, 39 year-old, Shane Phillips of Waxahachie, was transported by air ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Dallas with life threatening injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing, and there is no other information available at this time.
