ELLIS COUNTY – A major traffic switch is scheduled to begin next week on FM 664 from Interstate 35E to Westmoreland between the cities of Red Oak and Ovilla.
The traffic switch is expected to take approximately seven days to complete, beginning Monday, Dec. 10 through Dec. 17.
Most of the work will be performed during the daytime hours, but some work may be performed during the nighttime hours to expedite the work and have less of an impact on traffic.
The work will include shifting traffic on the 3.5 mile stretch of FM 664 to the existing shoulder, restriping and placement of traffic barriers.
The shift will require reconfiguration of traffic signals at Hampton Road and UHL Road and the removal of the traffic signal at the I-35E/FM 664 overpass.
This signal will be completely removed and barriers will be set to direct motorists who are on the southbound I-35E frontage road to take the north jug handle to go west on FM 664 and the south jug handle to go east on FM
664.
