WILMER – Wilmer councilmember Candy Madrigal was unanimously elected at last Thursday’s city council meeting to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem for another term on the Wilmer City Council.

The meeting opened last Thursday with the Texas Rose Restaurant receiving a plaque in recognition and appreciation for the donation to the 2021 Best Southwest Partnership Mayoral Scholarship Award. Madrigal accepted the plaque on behalf of the Texas Rose Restaurant. 

Items passing on the Wilmer City Council agenda included the approval of one consent agenda item to approve the minutes from the March 18, 2021 council meeting.

Council also accepted North Texas Central Texas Council of Governments’ Annual Population Estimates for January 1, 2021, which was 4,460. 

As of Jan. 1, the city’s population is estimated at 4,820.

Council also approved a resolution to authorize the City of Wilmer to establish a Seizure Bank Account at Commercial State Bank. 

The purpose of the agenda item was to be in compliance with the Code of Criminal Procedures Chapter 59.
