ITALY – On Saturday, at approximately 5:35 p.m., Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were called to a two-vehicle crash on FM 667, just south of White Rock Rd., in the city limits of Italy.
Preliminary investigation indicated a white 2017 Dodge Caravan was traveling north on FM 667 and a black 2007 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling south on FM 667.
For a yet undetermined reason, the Chevy pickup veered out of the southbound lane and into the northbound lane of FM 667, striking the front left of the Dodge passenger van.
The driver of the Dodge Passenger van, 31-year-old Carolina Ramirez, and a 6-year-old boy were both pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace No. 3, Judge Steve Egan.
The other passengers in the Ramirez’s van were an 8-year-old girl, who was transported by air ambulance to Cook’s Children Hospital with unknown injuries, and a 10-year-old boy who was transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waxahachie with unknown injuries.
Ramirez and the three children in her van were all from Corsicana.
The driver of the Chevy pickup, 33-year-old, Fernando Carreon, and an 8-year-old boy were transported by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, in Waxahachie with unknown injuries. A 10-year-old girl in the pickup was transported by air ambulance to Cook’s Children Hospital in Dallas with unknown injuries.
An investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
