HUTCHINS – Voters in the City of Hutchins said yes to a new city hall this past week during the Nov. 8 local elections.

In fact, it seems an overwhelming majority of Hutchins residents – to the tune of over 70% – were in agreement with the issuance of general obligation bonds not to exceed $10,755,000 to design, acquire, construct, improve, and equip a new city hall.

“The citizens of Hutchins have spoken,” Hutchins Mayor Mario Vasquez said.

“Now, the city council and I will work to make sure the city hall is delivered on time and on budget.”

The proposal that was approved allows for the construction of an estimated 19,231-square-foot facility – including a 3,500-square-foot event center – that will to be available to the residents of Hutchins.

Some of the proposed uses for the space discussed by council include receptions, banquets, reunions, graduation parties, seminars and conferences, volunteer organization meetings and community meetings.
