HUTCHINS – The City of Hutchins will hold a bond election Tuesday, Nov. 5 for the purpose of building a recreation center and library for the city.

The total proposition on the ballot will be in the amount of $28-million, includes $24-million,to build the recreation center and library building and $4-million, for architectural fees, furniture, fixtures and equipment and professional costs.

“This recreation center and library will serve as a hub for community engagement and enrichment, providing a space for residents to come together and thrive,” Hutchins Mayor Mario Vasquez said.

Since 2021, Hutchins has experienced an ad valorem property tax value growth of $896,290,266 or 137%.

There is also no planned tax increase for residents in the new fiscal year, which means the bond will not add a financial burden to the community.

The square footage for the recreation center and library is 37,250 square-feet with 6,000 square-feet of that for the library building.

The recreation center will feature adult and youth basketball courts, cardio and weight equipment, training areas, multi-purpose studios for a variety of activities and will also feature a teen gaming room and indoor walking trail.

“This project represents a significant investment in the well-being of our residents and the future of our city.

“We are committed to providing high quality facilities and services that cater to the diverse needs of our community,” Vasquez concluded.
