87 to be distributed in Red Oak through the North Ellis County Outreach

    TYLER – Hormel Foods Corporation and Brookshire Grocery Co. partnered to donate more than $150,000 worth of Hormel® Cure 81® hams to food banks throughout BGC’s market areas to help feed people in need this holiday season.

    The donation equals more than 15,000 hams with 87 to be distributed in Red Oak through the North Ellis County Outreach.

    “We are very excited to partner with Hormel Foods and the Hormel® Cure 81® brand to donate more than 15,000 hams to over 80 nonprofits that support hunger relief in communities that our stores serve,” said Brad Brookshire, chairman and CEO for Brookshire Grocery Co.

    “In our 90 years of operation, giving back to the communities that support our stores has always been very important to us. We are thrilled to be able to help provide hams for so many individuals in need this holiday season.”

    The makers of the Hormel® Cure 81® brand created the Hormel Cure 81® Hams for Hunger program in 1989.

    The program involves a partnership between Hormel Foods and grocery retailers across the country with more than $13 million dollars in hams donated since its inception. “Hormel Foods is proud to partner with Brookshire Grocery Company to support hunger-relief efforts in the communities served by the company’s stores,” said Stephanie Postma, brand manager, meat products marketing, Hormel Foods.

    Hormel Foods will donate more than 55,000 hams to charities nationwide through the Hormel Cure 81® Hams for Hunger program this holiday season.
