FERRIS ISD SEEKS VOTER APPROVAL OF $23.5-MILLION BOND PACKAGE

FERRIS – Ferris ISD seeks voter approval of vote on the district’s $23.5-million bond package.

The bond package will include three propositions that Ferris residents can choose from when voting.

The bond proposal allows for voters to choose none, one, two, or all three propositions, let us look at what each proposition is all about:

 

PROPOSITION A

$11M

This proposition includes classroom expansions at Lee Longino and Ferris Junior High. It also includes safety and security upgrades.

 

PROPOSITION B

$8M

This proposition includes a new wing at Ferris High School. The expansion would be home to the district’s new P-TECH program, which allows students to graduate from high school with their associates degree. The building would also include flexible classroom space and would support programs such as Construction Trades, Logistics, and Teaching & Learning with the possible expansion of Cyber Security.

 

PROPOSITION C

$4.5M

This proposition would involve renovations to the district’s baseball and softball fields. It would include adding turf on both fields and expanding bleachers and more safety netting.

Early voting will be at the Ferris Public Library beginning Oct. 24 to Nov. 4, 2022.

 

NO TAX INCREASE FOR 65 AND OLDER – Under state law, the dollar amount of school taxes imposed on the residence homestread of a person 65 years of age or older cannot be increased above the amount paid in the first year after the person turned 65 or disabled, regardless of changes in tax rate or property value, unless there are new improvements to the homestead that increase the value of the home. You must apply for this exemption.
