Ferris implements crosswalk flags

Ferris – The City of Ferris is proud to announce the implementation of crosswalk flags at designated pedestrian crossings on FM 664 and FM 983.

These crosswalk flags, made of vibrant orange reflective material adorned with the city seal, aim to enhance pedestrian safety, particularly for students commuting to and from school.

Located on the pedestrian crossing caution signs along FM 664 and FM 983, students and pedestrians traversing these roads before and after school hours can now utilize these safety measures.

With the simple action of removing a flag, holding it while crossing the street, and placing it on the holder located on other side of the roadway, pedestrians can significantly increase their visibility to drivers.

City Manager Brooks Williams expressed enthusiasm about the introduction of these crosswalk flags, stating, “The safety of our residents, especially our children, is a top priority for the City of Ferris.

“These crosswalk flags provide an additional layer of protection for pedestrians, ensuring they can navigate our streets safely.”

The crosswalk flags are easily identifiable with their reflective material and distinctive city seal, making them highly visible even in low-light conditions.

The City of Ferris encourages all pedestrians, particularly students, to utilize these flags when crossing FM 664 and FM 983.
