FERRIS – Down here in Texas one local city – Ferris to be exact – got Texas smart this year and showed Santa how to ride in on his sleigh the Texas way.
Did you know that the reindeer in Texas are actually Reinsteer?
As in – Longhorns?
This past Saturday, Santa donned his Texas attitude at Ferris’ Feliz Navidad Christmas celebration and gave local children and adults a proper Texas “making a list and checking in twice” look forward to this Dec. 25.
Feliz Navidad saw not only Santa and his Reinsteer, but also a fireworks show, ice skating, large inflatables including a snow globe, and plenty of local vendors with some serving up – you guessed it – of Texas barbeque, Mexican corn in the cup and even a taco stand.
“We are so happy to be able to do this for the residents of Ferris,” said Ferris Chief of Staff John DeLeon.
Ferris’ downtown square will be lit and decorated for the holidays from now until after the new year.
And next year, residents can expect the added addition of a Christmas tree for lighting.
“We haven’t been able to all come together as a community in a few years because of COVID,” DeLeon concluded.
“This was an especially great time to make that happen, and with the support of Ferris City Manager Brooks Williams, we were able to put this event together so everyone would have the chance to come together and celebrate the season.”
