Ferris City Council elections filings

FERRIS – The residents have spoken in Ferris and the May City Council elections look to be full of new faces.

Many city residents are hoping these new faces will drive voters to the polls to see change in the city.

The open council seats for the May election include places 2, 3 and 5.

Rick Barrett is not seeking re-election for his seat in Place 2. Both well-known small business owner Michael Martinez is running for that open seat as well as resident Cindy Cousins Aspin.

In Place 3, incumbent Bobby Lindsey is hoping to keep his seat on the city council with three challengers. Tommy Scott, co-host of Ellis County TV will be facing off against Lindsey as well as Rudy Amore and longtime Ferrisite John Riley.

Incumbent Sherrie Chapman will also be vying for her Place 5 seat against unknown Jennifer Stanford.

The Ferris City Secretary did not send candidate applications by deadline for additional candidate information.

The Alderman election will be held May 4, and the deadline was last Friday to file for a place on the ballot.

The location of the polling place in the City of Ferris is the Ferris Public Library at 301 E. 10th Street. Early voting will take place at the same location from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on April 29 and 30.

The drawing to determine the order of the place of the candidate’s names on the ballot will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at City Hall.
