BARDWELL

At Bardwell’s city council meeting this week an ordinance was discussed to regulate fowl and other specified animals, enclosures and conditions.


ENNIS

Ennis Police Department recently welcomed its newest member, Emily Treadaway Camarillo. She formerly served as a Communications Officer for the city before graduating The Regional Police Academy, and follows in the footsteps of her father, who also served the community as a police officer.


FERRIS

Ferris is mourning the loss of former City Council member Norman “Coach” Heckathorn. Ferris Mayor Fred Pontley said of his passing, “Coach Heckathorn served with heart, with humility, and with an unwavering focus on what mattered. Heckathorn dedicated 49 years to education, serving as a teacher, coach, athletic director and administrator across districts ranging from 1A to 5A according a press release.”


GLENN HEIGHTS

Glenn Heights 2026 State of the City Address will be held on Feb. 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Glenn Heights Community Center. The address will celebrate 2025’s achievements, highlight exciting future projects, and hear from various city departments.


ITALY

The Gold Medal Saturday Academy at Stafford Elementary has partnered with Build Consulting Group and will begin its Winter Olympic Wonderland for grades third to sixth on Saturday’s from  8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 31, Feb. 14 and 28, March 21 and Apr. 4 and 11.


MAYPEARL

Maypearl voted unanimously to change its City Council elections from May to November every year. With that change the next election will not be held until November 2027. Anyone who had a term up for re-election in May of 2026 has now had their term extended to next year.


MIDLOTHIAN

A meeting will be held in Midlothian on Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. by the residents of Bridgewater who are opposing large-scale commercial development at 287 and Walnut Grove, which is adjacent to Bridgewater. This Planning and Zoning meeting will be held at 215 N. 8th Street, Midlothian.


MILFORD

OVILLA

Ovilla is asking residents to be alert for signs of water leaks in and around your home over the next few days as temperatures begin to rise and frozen plumbing thaw. If you discover a leak, shut off your water supply right away to help prevent further damage. If you are unable to locate or turn off your shutoff valve, contact City Hall at 972-617-7262 during regular business hours, or for after hours water emergencies contact Non-Emergency Dispatch at (972) 775-3333 or the on-call Water Utilities Emergency Line at (469) 628-2431.


RED OAK

A Local and Small Business Workshop will be held on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Red Oak Government Center, 101 S Live Oak Street.

The workshop will highlight how business can connect with local governments and take advantage of new procurement opportunities. It will walk attendees through vendor registration, certification requirements, and bidding processes while offering insider tips from city procurement experts.


WAXAHACHIE

Don’t miss the “BIGGEST little Mardi Gras celebration” in downtown Waxahachie. “Hachie Gras 2026” will be on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with a Hachie Gras parade, and food, drinks, and live music downtown. Some restaurants and breweries are also bringing the flavor with themed specials, festive bites, and music.
