Ennis court giving citizens a break

Amnesty allows anyone who could potentially get an active warrant in Ennis Municipal Court to come to the court and pay their case off in full with a $50 reduction in the fine amount.

ENNIS – If you have outstanding violations in the City of Ennis, this is your lucky break.

The Ennis Police Department recently posted, “Amnesty is being offered at the Ennis Municipal Court for outstanding violations.”

The date of this amnesty is from Oct. 1 to Dec. 31.

The amnesty allows anyone who has an active warrant in Ennis to visit the Municipal Court and pay their case off in full with a reduction in the fine amount of only $50.”

Even better news, during this time, those who satisfy these outstanding violations in court will not be arrested.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2023, Ennis Municipal Court will start issuing warrants. Citizens who fail to pay their fines risk being arrested by city marshals, police officers, and constables after the amnesty period.

Also, a $50 warrant fee will be added at this time.

It was also pointed out this does not include payment plans, extensions, deferred dispositions, or drivers’ safety course request.
