ENNIS – It is a scheduled event held every year in Ennis on Memorial Day weekend.

The Ennis Polka Fest Parade this year however, had a little extra help with Ellis Country Sheriff Brad Norman and Ennis Police Chief Dustin Munn leading the parade on Saturday morning.

“It was a true pleasure to lead the 2022 Polka-Fest Parade with the Ennis chief, Dustin Munn,” Norman said.

As in years past, the festival kicked off with a variety of family activities, an opening dance on Friday that featured polka music and the King and Queen Dance Contest and an abundance of traditional Czech kroj (costumes).
Saturday’s parade was full of decorated floats, bands and colorful costumes gliding through historical downtown Ennis and kicking off the festivities for that day.

The Czech spirit was most certainly in the air whether it was the traditions, religious customs, dancing, taste, sights, sounds, or a chance to visit the “little bit of the Czech Lands” at one of the local downtown halls.
