ELLIS COUNTY SCAM ALERT

ELLIS COUNTY – The Ellis County Sheriff’s Office is asking everyone to pay attention for scams involving “Jury Duty” warrants. 

The Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page reported they had received “numerous calls recently where a citizen was called and told they did not show up for “Jury Duty” and a warrant for their arrest was issued.”
The scammer would then reportedly continue to inform the caller they could keep from being arrested if they paid a fine. 

The call appears to be coming from the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office when it shows up on caller ID. 

Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman said, “Please know this is not how we operate, and we will never call you and solicit money over the phone.”
