ELLIS COUNTY – Ellis County recently hired a new Emergency Management Coordinator whose first day on the job was last Monday.

A Dallas native, Michaela Sandefer’s most recent appointment was serving as the Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Grand Prairie. In that position she helped with emergency response efforts in the counties of Tarrant, Dallas, Johnson, and Ellis.

Ellis County Judge Todd Little said “I am excited to add Michaela to our Emergency Management Team. Please give a warm welcome and the best of wishes to Ms. Sandefer in her new role.”

In that new role Ellis County residents can expect Sandefer to take responsibility in preparing the county for natural or man-made disasters while also organizing necessary recovery efforts after incidents occur. Overall, a press release from Little’s office noted that the Emergency Management Coordinators play a critical role for local governments by establishing protocol and collaboration between municipal, county, state, and federal emergency responders.

I love how friendly everyone is here and the fact you can actually get to know the people you see in public,” Sandefer concluded. “This is a wonderful place, and I am honored to serve the people of Ellis County.”
