WAXAHACHIE – Both the cities of Waxahachie and Red Oak are seeing nightly lane closures on I-35 beginning last week and continuing this week as well.
In Waxahachie weather permitting, the following closures are taking place at Interstate 35E and FM 387 junction as part of an ongoing TxDOT interchange improvement project.
There were lane closures on north and southbound I-35E and on the frontage roads at the FM 387 junction that began this past Sunday and will continue nightly through Friday, March 10.
As well, all lanes of FM 387 were closed and detoured at the I-35E junction starting Monday of this week until further notice. Traffic on FM 387 is being detoured using either the Lofland Rd. overpass or Sterrett Rd. around the closure during this time.
These nightly closures are allowing for the removal of the existing bridge and construction of a new structure on I-35E.
In Red Oak, the police department in that city also posted to Facebook: “Nightly lane closures of Interstate Highway 35E will begin tonight [March 6] at 8 p.m. in the North and Southbound Lanes, until 6 a.m. This will continue until Thursday, March 9.
“The service roads will remain open during the closures, but we are expecting heavy traffic conditions and back-ups into our city in the Southbound lanes so plan your travel and commute accordingly.”
