WAXAHACHIE – Even with the COVID-19 pandemic, Ellis County recently solidified an agreement that will bring over 400 new jobs to the county, according to a recent press release put out by Ellis County Judge Todd Little’s office.
On July 14, Freshpet Inc. said yes to investing in Ellis County bringing a $267 million investment to the area.
“We proudly welcome the only Freshpet location in the State of Texas to Ellis County,” said Judge Little. “Ellis County’s willingness to partner with local city governments, school districts, and communities provides the opportunity to bring unique businesses and jobs all across our great county.”
Freshpet Inc. will open its new offices in the City of Ennis. The new location is one of three national facilities.
Part of the allure of the county was due to the Ellis County Commissioners Court unanimously approving the 70% seven-year tax abatement agreement with Freshpet, Inc.
“Freshpet’s decision to build one of three national facilities in Ellis County showcases the healthy economic climate that is on the rise,” Judge Little added. “Freshpet’s investment in Ellis County inspires more jobs and opportunities for our community and our citizens. As the quality of life continues to increase for residents, we will continue to make strides today to prepare for a more prosperous tomorrow.”
Freshpet is a pet food distribution center that focuses on all-natural pet food with no additives, preservatives, or powders.
