ELLIS COUNTY – Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman honored two deputies last week at Commissioners Court with Life Saving Awards.

Sergeant Tim Bulot and Deputy Brian Griffin responded to a shots fired call in Ellis County and found a young man who had accidentally shot himself.

The deputies applied two tourniquets to both of the young man’s legs and stopped the bleeding.

The quick action from the deputies saved the young man’s life.

“I am proud to recognize these two outstanding deputies for the job they did and continue to do every day,” Norman said.

Both deputies told their boss they were just doing their job.

However, Norman said they definitely went “above and beyond and acted quickly and professionally and saved a life.”

Griffin responded in a Facebook post thanking Sheriff Norman and expressing his appreciation to be part of the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department.

“I am glad to be a part of a department and team that pushes and strives to be the best they can be,” Griffin said.

Norman said he was proud of both the deputies and dispatchers for a job well done.

“It’s this type of dedication and commitment to the citizens of Ellis County that make Ellis County Sheriff’s Office great,” Norman concluded.
