Commissioner’s approve new flood maps for Ellis County

WAXAHACHIE – New flood maps for Ellis County and a change to the county’s flood prevention procedures were approved at the last Commissioners’ Court.
In June 2013, the court approved a minute order establishing the county’s Flood Damage Prevention Order.
The changes approved primarily address adopting new Federal Emergency Management Agency flood maps, establishing expiration dates on permits, and updating procedures.
The county participates in FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program, which requires the county to have a flood damage prevention order in place.
