RED OAK – Red Oak Police have located the 2016 Red Nissan Sentra that was stolen on Dec. 3 in the 100 block of S. Summit Street.
The vehicle was recovered unoccupied by the Dallas Police Department on Dec. 7 in the 4300 block of Bailey in South Dallas.
The victim’ name was not released, but the Sentra was stolen along with the victim’s cell phone on Dec. 3 while she was inside the vehicle talking on the phone in a parking area in front of several town homes where she lives.
It was not explained what phone the victim used to call police since her cell phone was also stolen, but she said she was robbed at gunpoint.
The suspects were described as two young black male subjects. The first suspect displayed the handgun and was the one who ordered the victim from the vehicle at gunpoint.
He was described as being in his early twenties, 5'10", unknown weight wearing dark clothing and a gray hoodie.
The second suspect was also described as young, but with no clothing description.
The victim did not sustain injuries during the incident.
Red Oak Police searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone matching the description of the suspects.
The Red Oak Police Department Criminal Investigation Division is continuing its investigation and attempting to identify the suspects.
Robberies are not common in Red Oak, only two were reported in 2017 and the same number in 2018.
There were eight aggravated robberies in Red Oak in 2017 and nine to date this year.
Red Oak Police Department Media contact said, “The offense may have been a crime of opportunity since the victim was focused on her phone and not on her surroundings.”
