Candidate sign-up for ballot underway

ELLIS COUNTY – The upcoming Ellis County May election will be held this year on Saturday, May 6.

Filing for a place on the ballot began this week on Wednesday, Jan. 18 and will be open until Friday, Feb. 17.

Early voting dates for the May election will be April 24 to 29, and May 1 and 2.

According to the Ellis County Elections website (www.co.ellis.tx.us/312/Elections), special elections could have different deadline dates if applicable

If you are not registered to vote, Thursday, April 6 is the last day to register for the May election.

Tuesday, April 25 is the last day for the elections office to receive a regular or FPCA ballot by mail application.

Any necessary runoff elections are scheduled to be held on June 10.

If you are interested in running for a seat in the upcoming May election for both city council and ISD school board seats, you can pick up and submit candidate packets for city council seats at the city secretary’s office in each city or for ISD Board of Trustee seats at each city’s ISD Administration offices.
