ELLIS COUNTY – While not every city in Ellis County is offering fireworks this year, here is a rundown of local cities that are celebrating and open to all.

 

MIDLOTHIAN

The city of Midlothian’s Independence Day Fireworks will be held on Sunday, July 3 at 9:15 p.m.

The show will be staged in the field near the MISD Multi-purpose stadium and can be viewed from the stadium parking lot and surrounding area.

Parking lots at the stadium will be open for viewing at 1800 S. 14th Street beginning at 6 p.m. The parking lot at the new Physician Office Building at 979 Don Floyd Drive will also be open to the public.

 

RED OAK

The city of Red Oak in partnership with Citizen’s National Bank of Texas and Oaks Church will host its annual Red Oak White and Blue on Saturday, July 2 from 7 to 10 p.m.

The event will also include food and fun along with the fireworks show with a live DJ, bounce houses, face paintings, and food trucks.

The fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. for 18 minutes behind the Oaks Church.

 

WAXAHACHIE

The city of Waxahachie is the designated Crepe Myrtle Capital of Texas and will hold its 24th annual Crepe Myrtle festival beginning Sunday, July 3 and 4 with a festival and parade.

The celebration begins on July 3 at 6 p.m. with a tailgate party at the Waxahachie Sports Complex.

Live entertainment by King George, a tribute to George Straight, begins at 7:30 p.m.

The concert will be followed by a fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. by the city of Waxahachie and H-E-B.

There will also be a variety of food vendors, and a Huf Construction Kid Zone with free activities for the children.

Spectators can tune in to KBEC 1390/99.1 during the fireworks show for a special simulcast of patriotic music choreographed to the fireworks.

On July 4, the festival continues beginning at 10 a.m. with a hometown CNB Texas parade.

The parade will begin at Getzendaner Park and will head east on Main Street to Rogers Street and in in the 500 block of South Rogers.

Veterans and active service personnel will be honored guests in the parade.

Prior to the parade veterans plus one guest are invited to enjoy the Dan McClinton Veteran’s Memorial Breakfast sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Waxahachie at the Chatauqua Auditorium beginning at 8:30 a.m.

 

WILMER

The city of Wilmer will host its 2nd annual Sparks Fireworks Show on Friday, July 1 from 7 to 10 p.m. at 4801 Interstate 45 in Wilmer.

There will be food trucks, a gaming truck, face painter, balloon artist, and a DJ. The fireworks show will also be aligned with music, which will be available to tune into at KBEC 1390AM/99.1FM.
